Synopsis

Valdor: Birth of the Imperium is a Warhammer 40,000 novel by Chris Wraight that tells the story of Constantin Valdor, the first Captain-General of the Legio Custodes, and his role in the creation of the Imperium of Man.

The novel begins with Valdor being awakened from cryosleep by the Emperor of Mankind. Valdor is tasked with creating a new legion of Space Marines that will be known as the Legio Custodes. The Custodes are to be the Emperor's personal guard, and they will be responsible for protecting him from all threats.

Valdor sets about creating the Custodes, and he does so with great care and precision. He selects the best possible candidates from across the Imperium, and he trains them to be the most elite warriors in the galaxy. The Custodes are equipped with the finest weapons and armor, and they are trained to fight as a cohesive unit.

Once the Custodes are ready, they are sent to Terra to protect the Emperor. Valdor and the Custodes play a key role in the Unification Wars, and they help to bring the Imperium of Man under the Emperor's control.
