Sickened is a harrowing account of corporate greed, corruption, and the devastating impact it had on a small American town. The book follows the lives of several families who were affected by the contamination of their water supply with toxic chemicals, and it exposes the lengths to which corporations will go to protect their profits at the expense of the health and well-being of others.

The story begins in Woburn, Massachusetts, in the early 1980s. Woburn was a working-class town, and many of its residents worked in the local leather tanneries. The tanneries used a variety of toxic chemicals, including trichloroethylene (TCE) and perchloroethylene (PCE). These chemicals were released into the air and water, and they eventually contaminated the town's water supply.

In 1980, several children in Woburn were diagnosed with leukemia. The parents of these children suspected that the contamination of their water supply was to blame, and they filed a lawsuit against the tanneries. The lawsuit was a long and hard-fought one, but in 1994 the families finally won a settlement of $330 million.

Sickened is a powerful and moving account of the Woburn water contamination case. The book tells the story of the families who were affected by the contamination, and it exposes the corporate greed and corruption that led to the tragedy. The book is also a testament to the power of the human spirit. Despite the tremendous hardships they faced, the families of Woburn never gave up their fight for justice.
