Martin argued that his disability prevented him from walking the course, and that the tour's policy was therefore a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The case went all the way to the Supreme Court, which ruled in Martin's favor in 2001. The Court held that the PGA Tour's policy was discriminatory and that Martin was entitled to use a cart to play in tournaments.

Martin's victory in the Supreme Court was a major victory for people with disabilities. It showed that people with disabilities can achieve anything they set their minds to, and that they should not be discriminated against.

Martin continued to play on the PGA Tour for several more years. He retired from the tour in 2006, but he remains an active advocate for people with disabilities. He is the founder of the Casey Martin Foundation, which provides financial assistance to people with disabilities who want to pursue their dreams.
